The Ouidad Salon Experience
Features, In Her Shoes Home, Out About Town | 22 Mar 2013After embracing my natural hair texture for over 10 years, I pretty much thought I had my curls figured out. I’ve learned that I have a lot of “fine” hair, so while all of the puddings and gels were great for some, they only weighed my hair down. I’ve learned that my natural hair, if not properly infused with moisture, can be as dry as the Sahara Dessert. I’ve mastered the use of cream-based curl enhancers and leave-in conditioners, realizing that when it came to products on my hair, less is truly more. And last but certainly not least, I’ve learned that when it comes to curly hair, all cuts are NOT created equal.
Last month after connecting with Ouidad’s fabulous social media manager, Adama Sesay, on Twitter I managed to score a visit to the highly respected salon created with “curlfriends” in mind. I must admit, I was definitely a little skeptical. After all, I’ve yet to find a stylist who truly “got” my hair when it came to styling. I’ve received some disappointing cuts over the years, and it’s usually left up to me to style my hair in a way that I feel comfortable with. I’d grown to accept this as my reality until my first visit to the Ouidad Salon. I came into the salon with a tired ponytail but thanks to my Ouidad stylist, Melissa, I left with a great trim coupled with shiny, bouncy, and simply gorgeous curls! Don’t believe me? Just watch:

I’ve got to admit, my “before” look was pretty basic with an easy breezy ponytail.
Ouidad’s products are perfect for providing moisture without weighing down my curls.
Mark gave me the best wash ever! Can you say magic hands?
Nothing like a little bubbly to help you relax and unwind after a long day.
Ouidad’s drying technique is pretty awesome and resulted in lots of volume.
Now for the finished look. My curls were so happy!
Many thanks to my Ouidad stylist, Melissa for giving me such a fabulous trim!
