On Tuesday, June 25th, nearly 100 determined women braved NYC’s steamy temps and flocked to Polish Bar for an evening of COCKTAILS & CONNECTIONS. Beauty enthusiasts had an opportunity to mix and mingle with some of the industry’s finest, including Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty and The Fly Cut, Tricia Lee of Polish Bar, Anu Prestonia of Khamit Kinks and Anu Essentials, Celebrity Hairstylist Ursula Stephen, Nicole Melton of essence.com, Makeup Artist Extraordinaire Camera “AUnique” Beauty, Ylorie Anderson of First Choice Sales and Brown Girl Marketing, T. Bernie of COCOACHiC Beauty and of course, yours truly. Check out the photos and be inspired!
Research shows that beauty is one of the fastest growing industries at the start of this decade. If you’ve ever dreamed of launching a beauty brand or getting into the business and don’t know where to start, COCKTAILS & CONNECTIONS is a must-attend affair. I’m joining forces with a couple of my favorite beauty mavens, Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty and the Fly Cut and Tricia Lee of Polish Bar to bring you this special experience on Tuesday, June 25th
On the evening of May 7th, a couple hundred of Ursula Stephen’s staunch supporters descended upon Fort Greene, Brooklyn to celebrate the official opening of the talented stylist’s new salon. The space was packed from wall-to-wall with a fabulous mix of the beauty industry’s “who’s who”, Ursula’s supportive family and friends, clients, and well-wishers. Check out this video, produced by Molaundo Jones of The Clever Agency, to get a look at how the night unfolded!
2012 was an unforgettable year for me and December’s “Beauties & Brains Behind the Brands” event was definitely a highlight. If you weren’t able to join us, we’ve got you covered. Our girls over at Mane Moves have produced an awesome video that truly captures the evening’s essence. Although I’d been living and breathing this event for the past few weeks, seeing this video was like TRULY being in the room for the first time. I definitely shed a few tears of pride and joy while viewing (yes, I’m a softie at times). There were so many brilliant and inspiring women in the room and so many jewels shared. Check out the recap video and be INSPIRED. 2013 is yours for the taking!
Pardon my tardiness, beauties. With everything going on, I forgot to share some pretty exciting news! Last week, In Her Shoes was featured on EBONY.com’s Style page. The lovely Melanie Yvette Martin chatted with me just days before the big event to talk about the inspiration behind my blog and why I felt it was important to bring together this powerful panel of beautypreneurs. I truly enjoyed the interview and hope you do too! Click here to check out the full story on EBONY.com
As we all know, Hurricane Sandy is behind us but the widespread damage in the Tri-State area is not. With so many people still trying to return to a state of normalcy, I’ve decided to push back the event date for “Beauties & Brains Behind the Brands.” Thanks so much for your understanding and patience. If you’ve already purchased tickets, don’t fret! Your name will still be on our list for the new date.
Do you have a sick shoe game and plenty of pairs to spare? Let’s join forces to help those in need! We’ll be collecting new and gently used shoes for Hurricane Sandy victims at “The Beauties & Brains Behind the Brands.” Start digging through those closets and stay tuned for the new date announcement!
In November of 2012 in New York City, Renae Bluitt, founder of In Her Shoes and Crush Media will sit down with several of the industry’s most successful visionaries to discuss the blessings and challenges of being a BEAUTY BOSS. Yes, what you’ve heard is true! In Her Shoes took home the “Best Business Blog” of the year award at the Black Weblog Awards this weekend in Los Angeles! To be in a room with SO many amazing bloggers and then receive this honor was like a dream. I’d like to extend a huge e-hug to each and every person reading this post. YOU are the reason why In Her Shoes exists. Your support over the past 2.5 years is greatly appreciated and if you took time out of your busy schedule to vote, I owe you my first born!
