Giveaways: In Her Shoes Turns Two!

By  |  31 Comments

It’s hard to believe it but this week, my baby (ahem, I mean my blog) celebrates its two year anniversary! I remember the launch of this site like it was yesterday. All I knew is that I wanted to create an online destination for forward-thinking women who wanted to connect, inspire and be inspired. Two years have passed right before my eyes and boy has the blog evolved!

From bringing the In Her Shoes experience to life with our first ever Facing Your Fears panel event to showing our male counterparts love with In “His” Shoes, it’s been a pretty amazing ride and the best is yet to come!

If you’ve ever taken time out of your busy day to read In Her Shoes, I thank you. If you’ve enjoyed an In Her Shoes post so much that you shared the link with friends, thank you. If you’ve written in to say how inspired you are by the women In Her Shoes has introduced you to, I sincerely thank you. Thank you for bringing my dream of empowering women entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs to life!

As a small token of my appreciation for your love and support, a few friends of the blog have partnered with me for special giveaways. Yes, it’s the blog’s birthday but we want to give gifts to YOU!

The first “In Her Shoes Turns Two!” giveaway is from our friends over at African Pride. One lucky winner will receive a one year supply of African Pride’s Olive Miracle Hair Care Collection valued at over $400!

Ladies, there’s no question about it. The temps are pretty frigid right now and whether we realize it or not, it’s definitely taking a toll on our hair. African Pride’s Olive Miracle formula is rich in Extra Virgin Olive Oil to help nourish our thirsty tresses during the harsh winter months. Used regularly, Olive Miracle helps to stop breakage, split ends and dryness.

Georgia

Our next prize is a complimentary protein hair treatment (valued at $75) with any cut or blow dry from the ladies of Georgia. Protein conditioning treatments penetrate deep into the hair shaft to rebuild, restructure and make your hair shine and grow. Owned by Jodie Patterson and Kiara Ellozy, Georgia is SOHO’s busiest beauty hot spot and the Manhattan destination for all things fabulous!

Karen’s Body Beautiful

Skin feeling more like sandpaper than silk these days? If so, this next prize is for you! Karen Tappin-Saunderson, co-founder of the luxury beauty line and spa, Karen’s Body Beautiful, is giving away a few of her top-selling body products. Valued at $50, KBB’s skin care gift package contains hand lotion, maximum moisture body lotion, body splash and shea body butter in the winner’s choice of scents.

Last but certainly not least, we’re giving away a piece (valued at $25) from one of my favorite t-shirt lines, Cut it Out Tees. Created by Fly Female Entrepreneurs, Tirinda Hixon and Noricia Anderson, Cut it Out Tees is a Brooklyn-based brand that designs clothing with women of integrity in mind. The Cut It Out crew is helping me celebrate two years of In Her Shoes by giving away one of their most popular items, the Cut it Out T-Dress (in heather and black):

Now that you’ve seen all the fab prizes, I’m sure you want to know how you can win, right? Listen up. All you have to do is comment below telling us what you like about In Her Shoes OR what your favorite post has been over the past couple of years.

Four winners will be selected at random and announced next Thursday, January 20th. May the best women win!

Channing says:

Congrats on such a successful baby!! I love stopping by In Her Shoes, because it is so inspiring for me to see ladies (and man!) who stop at nothing to make their dreams come true! I felt the same way at your first panel! I can’t wait to see what you achieve in the coming year!

Congrats again!

MzDivaPlus says:

Wow, I absolutely love your blog! So inspiring and encouraging to women. My favorite segment is definitely the fly female entrepreneurs. I love seeing creative women who have followed their passion and are successful in their hustle.

Congrats again on your two year blog anniversary

Danah Gordon says:

I have loved so many of your articles I dont know where to start. But the first one that comes to mind (sorry for starting the sentence with but) is Bounce Back! You published this on THE perfect day. I was feeling discouraged after a setback and I needed a little encouragement to push me forward.

What I love about the In Her Shoes Blog is the fact that you create a channel for female entrepreneurs to get recognized.
I really appreciate the fact that this blog does not allow the upcoming businesswoman to be overshadowed despite of the oversaturated markets.

In my opinion, In Her Shoes is empowering, informative and a fresh perspective for all women.

MK says:

I love your site! It’s the perfect combination of business, style, and everything in between! A tribute to the fly, hardworking, dedicated, driven, and passionate working woman/entreprenuer.

YEAH!

Love this blog and everything it represents! Wishing you continuous success and dreams come true!

Stay shinning and powerful!

Michelle says:

What I love about your blog is the inspiration and the “lightness” it holds. My fave I would have to say are the Guest Bloggers and the topics they speak about. “Closet Therapy” if not mistaken was much needed when I read it…Thanks for sharing

Ronita says:

Simply put your blog is a true friend for us. Great advice, beautiful pictures and love of being the best we can be. Happy anniversary!

Chrissy M. says:

As an aspiring entrepreneur, I like the profiles of other female entrepreneurs and their commitment to succeed in spite of fear.

MissMikelah says:

I’m a newbie to In Her Shoes, but I’ve gone back to read some of the profiles you’ve done on entrepreneurs, I love those the best…truly inspiring.

T.Hood says:

Oh how time flies when you’re having fun! Congrats on your 2 year anniversary IHS! Thanks for inviting me to the party! I’m pretty sure I haven’t missed any posts (that’s how much I love this blog!) but off the top one of my favorites was a piece you did on social worker, Asiya Razvi (before I had the great honor of meeting and getting to know her). Giving back/paying it forward is so important no matter what shoes you’re wearing so that one and others along those lines always stick out to me. And the panel at the end of 2010 was amazing and right on time. So looking forward to the next one and continuing to watch the blog grow!

Amber says:

Your blog has always inspired me to keep my eyes on the prize. Entreprenuership is not easy but is so so so gratifying. I have found lots of inspiration in the entreprenuers highlighted on your blog and I congratulate you on two years!

Royce says:

I can’t believe In Her Shoes is already two years old! I guess time flies not only when you are having fun, but when you are inspired, motivated, and uplifted! I remember when this blog was born and its brilliance and creativity never ceases to amaze me. Being able to see women who look like me making livings through their passions is truly an inspiration. Thank you In Her Shoes and Happy Birthday! I know the best is yet to come!!!!

Royce says:

I forgot to add my favorite post. It was the Facing Your Fears recap video/post. I was at the event and I experienced first hand the impact this blog has had on women all over the world. The panel gave us a peek into the immense and limitless potential In Her Shoes possesses.

Candice M says:

One of my favorite posts has to be: “Roxanne’s Sweet Revenge. I admired the fact that even though she was swindled by her record label, she had the last laugh and her education was paid for. It’s a beautiful thing when you read the fine print and use it to work for you. As they say, a mind is a terrible thing to waste! You can have it all despite a few road blocks and she demonstrated that in her resilience. Awesome post!

Trizonna says:

Put your champagne flutes up, way up! Renae you have done a marvelous job with IHS, it’s our one stop shop for inspiration, information and “all things fly”. I’m so proud of you and the work you’ve put into IHS and super excited to see what you come up with next. Cheers to you my friend!

As an African female entrepreneur I’m always looking for the combination of both information and inspiration. Information, well of course because useful information helps me along my self sufficient path! However the other side of entrepreneurialship is the needed inspiration and motivation… you know the emotional & spirit side of knowing you’re paving your own path. This is why I love In Her Shoes! Seeing women that look like me does something special for me it lets me know that hey ‘I can do this’. I’m a new reader who’s gradually reading the archive articles yet thus far my favorite article is actually in his shoes feature on Paul Carrick Brunson. It was truly inspiring to read how operating a summer camp, witnessing the effect of the lack of two parent homes and turning that into a needed & lucrative match making consulting firm. Kind of amazing :)

LOLBeauty says:

Happy blog bday! I love the features you do on woman entrepreneurs. They are very inspiring!

DreamchaZer says:

Though I am quite new to your blog (Congrats on 2 years mama!!) I am always on the look out for inspiration. From one of my favorite inspirational blogs (The Write Curl Diary) I was linked to you. They say birds of a feather….:-) I am very pleased.

Gigi says:

I’ve been reading your blog for some time now. Of course, I enjoy the Fly Female interviews as well as the posts from Ellisa Oyewo. Congrats!

Niki McNeill says:

‘In Her Shoes’ is definitely one of my favorite spots on the web! Congrats on two years, and I can’t wait to see what the next one brings!

Congrats Renee,

Luv reading the blog, keeps me up to date w/ new emerging designers

Lady Dom says:

First of all, congrats! You’re the bomb! This two-year anniversary deserves a standing ovation. You’re such a committed and hardworking woman. It’s an honor to watch your development. You’re killer.

With that being said, this blog stands as a reflection of thousands of hardworking women who push, stand and act on what they believe in. It’s hip, chic and cute, yet informative and affirmative, giving readers the examples that they need to know that anything is possible. We can do whatever we put our minds to. This blog is a reflection of that…

I also appreciate your ability to present the often overlooked, unheard or underground females who prove that dreams are realities for women of various demographics. You effectively present our common thread: a desire for success. So, thanks. I love it!

Continue. We need us. Chao.

Michelle says:

Congrats In Her Shoes! Can’t wait to see how this blog continues to evolve. It’s definitely a must read for me everyday!
