I’ve got a confession…I’m a bragger . Yes, I said it! I’m very quick to drop the price of an item I’m wearing with no shame whatsoever. Before you begin to judge me, just know that it’s not what you think. My bragging doesn’t go “yes this clutch was $1,500.” It’s more like “Girl, I  snagged this from the thrift store for $1.99!” Then the response is “What!? How do you always find such great finds in thrift stores? I just never have patience!” I chuckle and say “I’m a professional thrifter!”

Are you wondering how you can be down? Here are three key points that will keep you from losing your mind next time you’re out thrifting:

Eyes on the Prize: Take thrifting like any other shopping experience, make sure you have an idea of what you’re looking for before you go in. If not, your eyes will widen at every vintage piece you see and you’ll end up walking out with much more than you bargained for (this can be a good or a bad thing)!

Part it Out: Just like your hair. Part it on out! When you walk in the thrift store mentally break down the store into four to six sections. When you break it into sections you can focus on each type of clothing.

Take it Slow: I’m a person that makes thrifting a day trip. Reserve a couple of hours so you’re not rushing through the store. Thrifting should be a fun and creative experience where you can visualize how you can turn something unconventional into a hot piece that compliments your individual style.

I know it seems overwhelming but what’s better than finding one-of-a-kind pieces without breaking the bank? Go with a couple of your girls and make a day out of it. Shop, eat and go for drinks when you’re all thrifted out!
